Australian Standard - AS 4145.4 2002 - Part 4: Padlocks

The Australian Standard AS 4145.4 enables the true evaluation of the physical security and corrosion resistance of padlocks and padlock accessories (excluding chains). The standard specifies performance requirements and describes test methods for strength, security, function and corrosion. Requirements that relate to security are classified in ten grades, based on performance tests that simulate attack. The security rating is based on the lowest test result achieved. Test methods are specified in detail to ensure reproduction and consistency of assessment. Chains not covered in the standard have been tested using the same test requirements and carry the appropriate Lockwood security rating.

Corrosion Resistance Rating

All Lockwood padlocks and padlock accessories are exposed to an accelerated corrosion test to evaluate their resistance to corrosion. Exposure is to a neutral salt spray in accordance with related Australian standards. Padlocks and padlock accessories are classified in four grades as follows –

Grade 1

Dry, protected conditions. Environments that are normally dry, including the majority of interiors.

Grade 2

Occasionally damp conditions. Environments that are sometimes damp in the majority of normal rural and suburban localities, including interiors where condensation may occur.

Grade 3

All conditions other than extreme. Environments that are often wet and/or subject to slight pollution, including some particularly damp interiors and the majority of exterior environments.

Grade 4

Extreme conditions. Environments in very corrosive localities such as those subject to a combination of industrial and coastal conditions. The padlocks and padlock accessories are exposed to the neutral salt spray for up to 240 hours (Grade 4) as shown in the graph below. After the test it must be possible to operate the padlock with its key in the normal manner. All Lockwood padlocks and padlock accessories have been tested and ratings for both security and corrosion resistance are prominently positioned on display packs.

Handy Lock 110 Series Padlocks

The Lockwood Handy Lock 110 Series padlocks are a range of brass padlocks designed for basic protection for barrier and deterrent applications.

Features

Solid brass case extrusion.
Chrome plated, hardened steel shackles.
Self latching.
Pin tumbler mechanisms.
Single locking on 20 and 25 mm padlocks.
Double locking on 30, 35 and 40 mm padlocks.

General Purpose 120 & 121 Series Padlocks

The Lockwood General Purpose 120 and 121 Series padlocks are a range of brass padlocks designed for good to high security for general purpose applications.
